In 2010, Fairmount Properties was selected to partner with the University of Toledo Foundation to develop the University of Toledo Gateway project on a 23-acre site at the front door of its main campus. Opened in the Fall of 2012, Phase I includes 85,000 sq. ft. of ground-level retail, anchored by a two-level Barnes & Noble Bookstore with and Starbucks cafe. The upper levels include loft-style residences that house 150 UT students. Phase II will include additional retail and Class A office space. College Town Toledo has enhanced the gateway to the university while creating a vibrant, diverse mixed-use district for the campus population and surrounding neighborhoods. Both physically and programmatically linked to UT, the development has become a new front door to campus.
