Fairmount Properties pioneered the development of micro-unit housing in Ohio through a collaborative effort with the Kent State University School of Architecture. This innovative partnership led to the creation of The Avant, a cutting-edge residential community located in downtown Kent. The Avant consists of 52 thoughtfully designed apartment units, offering a mix of micro-studios and one-bedroom floor plans. These residences range in size from 352 to 745 square feet, catering to modern urban lifestyles that prioritize efficiency, comfort, and functionality. Each unit features high-end finishes, including stainless steel appliances, in-suite washers and dryers, and access to high-speed internet. Designed with sustainability and modern living in mind, The Avant incorporates contemporary architectural elements that blend seamlessly with the surrounding urban landscape. Residents enjoy premium community amenities such as a state-of-the-art fitness center, secure building access, and proximity to Kent’s vibrant downtown scene, including restaurants, shops, and cultural attractions. Through this project, Fairmount Properties set a new standard for innovative housing solutions in Ohio, redefining urban living by combining efficient design, strategic location, and a strong connection to a leading academic institution.
